WINTER MOTORIZED INFORMATION AND RESOURCES

The Eastern Sierra is home to terrain accessible to snowmobiles and other Over Snow Vehicles (OSVs). The Inyo National Forest winter recreation map shows permissible riding areas. More information about motorized winter recreation can be found on the Inyo National Forest website, the Mono County Sheriff’s OHV page, or on the California State Parks Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation website.

ESAC’s services, including the daily winter avalanche advisory, are an essential resource for motorized users. This page has been developed to provide educational resources specific to motorized users. General avalanche education may be found at our Avalanche Education page. Moving forward ESAC will continue to seek opportunities to expand education and outreach to motorized users.

ESAC is applying for a CA State Parks OHV grant for the 2024-2025 season. The public comment period has closed as of May 6, 2024. This grant would support expanded OHV avalanche education and outreach while helping fund ESAC’s core services. Please reach out to office@esavalanche.org if you have more questions about this grant or other OHV information.
