Dug a pit on a ~35 degree N-facing aspect at 8,800’ and observed compression of the column after 10 elbow taps about 30cm deep. 2 thick rain crusts were observed about 100cm deep. Observed several loose wet slides in steep gullies on southerly and south easterly aspects, no signs of avalanche activity on north aspects apart from one ridge line above a south-facing gully that may have slid when the gully released higher up. Snow felt “right side up” and fairly solid.
