Observations

While descending one of the middle gullies on Elderberry headwall at approximately 11:00am I noticed my sluff building speed and pick up additional snow as it slid. I picked up speed and traversed to a more firm aspect in the gully and watched the small slide go by me. This snow was soft and the warming conditions along with a trigger allowed it to grow. Initially entering this face I was concerned about warming so entered on a previous sun affected area that had gone through melt freeze cycles, as I was riding the slope I dipped into the softer snow and noticed the mentioned sluff and traversed back to the harder area.
