Observations

While touring up Blacksmith Canyon we got some unstable test results on a N facing gully. ECTP13 and ECTP11 both breaking cleanly 4 inches down on a half inch lower density layer between firmer 1 finger+ windslabs. We also observed some ECTN results on other wind layers ~2 inches above and below our ECTP layer. As forecasted, the winds picked up in the afternoon and we observed lots of wind transport. Some pleasant turns were found on very sheltered aspects above 8,000 feet and on somewhat sheltered open bowls above 9,000 feet. We also experienced a lot of mank and sticky new snow on the ascent between 10 and 1 but did not trigger any loose wet slides or substantive rollerballs on the approach or exit.

Signs of Unstable Snow

None reported
