Zone or Region:
Convict Creek
Activity:
Skiing/Snowboarding
Location:
Hippie Trees

Observations

Hippie trees or hippie quarry? Wind scoured to ground in many places, some good stashes in the trees thankfully. Seemed that mostly all the snow on windward aspects, including valley ridges, are stripped in the area. Upon descent, we noticed some W wind transport at high elevation/peaks. Variable snow at best on the down, with exception to the good tree stashes.

Observed Avalanches

Did you observe any avalanches?
Yes
Avalanche Type:
Hard Slab
Size:
Size 1: Relatively harmless to people
Elevation:
~10k
Aspect:
E
Comments:
Old D1R1 natural slide off the East Face of Mono Jim, just at the base into the gully. It's was consolidated and firm, leading me to believe it was a small storm slab smoothed by the recent winds.
