Observations

We drove up to Virginia Lakes today and immediately spotted an existing avalanche path on the north face of Mount Olsen, another one on the southeast aspect of Dunderberg's south gully, and the northeast gully of South Peak. We were mostly interested in a skin today as we really just wanted to see what the conditions were like in the VA zone. We decided to skin over to the saddle between South Peak and Mount Olsen. Looking above the avalanche slide path, we could see that this particular avalanche moved most of it's matter to groundlevel as we could see plenty of rocks on the upper NE face all the way down to where the top of the avalanche path stopped.
