Key Points

Alot of ski touring parties were out in Convict Creek today. Tracks were visible in challenging, complex and extreme terrain throughout the area.

  • Ski and boot penetration was 0cm – 5cm throughout the morning
  • Partly cloudy skies delayed the onset of surface melting until afternoon
  • Temperatures were above 40 degrees F in the alpine today.
  • Wind hardened surfaces in the alpine are helping the snowpack tolerate this warm-up
  • No recent slabs avalanches observed

Wet Loose action around 9000' on East. Some from previous day some from today. 4/11/23
Dry to moist surface snow (and upper snowpack) on north aspects above 10,500'.
Boot penetration above the knee at 9000' in a flat area at 2:30 PM. Upper snowpack saturated with melt water.
