Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Whumphing on east aspect on a subtle ridgeline at tree line high in Bishop Bowl. Dug multiple hand pits and found a concerning layer 30cm down from base of bowl to where we turned around at treeline, difficult to shear by hand lower but easier higher. Think this layer caused the whumphing, only happened once. Melt crust with 10-15 cm of new snow made skinning annoying. Great powder with an occasional crusty bottom in the trees, almost corn down low. We transitioned at 1030.
