More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Toured up to the shoulder below TJ Bowl on Sunday.  On the way we encountered so many different surface textures it was hard to keep track of them all.  One feature that was fairly consistent was a graupel layer.  Sometimes it was pooled on the surface like in exposed areas on lakes.  Sometimes it was thinly buried by new snow in sheltered areas.  Wind textured the surface snow in many areas at and above treeline, but didn't expose the Graupel layer where we could see it.  On the skin track our skis easily cut through the surface and exposed the Graupel.  See Photo

Overall a mild day.  The snow was warmed and sticky on sun exposed aspects and cold in sheltered areas.
