More detailed information about the snowpack:

January 5-7. Tuolumne Meadow Tour.

Snowline on the Lee Vining Road starts at the Warren Fork (9,000ft). Road touring conditions quick and friendly. especially for scaled skis.

Traveling off the road was also realtively easy. Small patches were gloppy.  Ski penetration generally less than 10cm (4 inches).  Boot penetration variable, up to 50cm (~2ft), depending on the surface. Some pleasant powder snow found on N-NW slopes in the trees around 10,200, but generally rare. Descent generally consisted of survivaly skiing on windboard, crust (supportable, breakable, zipper ...) and some powder.

No evidence of any recent avalanche activity.  Abundant evidence of fierce winds with variable direction. Sastrugi and scour common. Snow depth from 0-1.5m. Cornices on multiple aspects.

Daily high temperature just above freezing. Light cloud cover up to 80%.  No new precipitation.
