More detailed information about the snowpack:

A Sierra Mountain Center AIARE Level 1, in coordination wth Mono County SAR went out on a tour day in the Lakes Basin today. Groups toured to TJ Bowl, Red Cone and Mammoth Rock.

All groups confirmed the ESAC forecast, noting windslabs that failed down 30cm on DFs (CTM), Persistent Slab problems that failed between 70 and 95cm down depending on elevation (CTH SC on faceted crystals), and Loose Dry in steep terrain using test slopes with low consequence. Loose Dry snow was all near surface facets rather than new snow.

Surface hoar up to 3mm was found on all aspects while ascending into Lakes Basin before the snow started falling heavily (S1 after mid-morning). With calm to light E winds it is likely this is buried and preserved where noted.
