More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Went for a tour up near TJ bowl today to get a look at upper elevations. Skies were clear and temps were warm.  (38* F at 11:09 at 9000ft.)  Exposed areas above tree line are quite wind affected but sheltered shaded trees still contain cold soft snow.  Low elevation snow in sunny areas was warm and sticky. No signs of instability were noted on our tour today. 

I dug in on a west aspect a little above TJ lake at 9500 ft on a west aspect searching for near surface faceting.   

While I did not find any near surface facets at this location though I did find faceting throughout the snow pack.   It also appears that crusts are beginning to break down.

Tests identified a week layer about 35 cm down immediately below a buried melt freeze crust, thought the overlying slab did not have the structure or energy to propagate.
