More detailed information about the snowpack:

Went for a tour up above Mammoth Rock today in the Sherwins.  Overall the day consisted of cold temperatures, moderate winds, and great skiing.

HS averaged 50-80 cm throughout our tour today.

At 1230 we took a brief break at 9380ft in the trees on a NE aspect.  Temperature was 11*F, and skies were clear.  Winds were light in the sheltered trees of Mammoth bowl while on the ridge top they were moderate and could be described as “biting.“ Significant Snow transport was noted at upper elevations on the crest.

We also noted significant surface hoar development on N-NE aspects despite the very high winds last night. With more cold and clear nights to come it will be interesting to see if this trend continues.

Despite the good surface conditions out there today there are plenty of obstacles to avoid, especially at lower elevations.
