More detailed information about the snowpack:

Today I toured up Sweetwater Canyon to the summit of Patterson. I encountered a variety of snow conditions, but everything was really stable. Mostly it was old pow over a solid base a few inches down. Solar aspects warmed up a lot during the day, and were mank lower down, but no wet slides were noted. On subsequent laps in a different canyon I noted a lot of old, lightly buried rollerballs. There was another section of very recent rollerballs, but no new ones formed today. There was a moderate wind coming down the canyon when I started up at 0700, but it was nearly calm by the time I reached the summit at 1000. Throughout the day the wind was notably mild (I've never been so comfortable on the summit of Patterson, even in the summer!).
