Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Skied the Old Growth on Punta Bardini out of the propane tanks today. Skinning conditions were fairly slippery on a variable mix of sugary snow and wind board. Dug a quick hand pit at around 9,000' on a NW facing slope. On the surface, found about a foot of loose sugary snow on top of a thin melt freeze crust which was on top of about another foot of sugary snow. In other spots the wind board was on top.

Skiing was surprisingly good up high, although caution was needed for the many barely covered obstacles. The skiing down near Tele Bowls had more of an unpredictable crust. Saw no signs of instability. No wind transport observed.

The ski out to the propane tanks on the moraine is survival skiing - hard, fast, slippery and thin.
