Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Toured up to Mammoth Rock Bowl this morning.  The NW terrain below Mammoth Rock has seen lots of traffic so far, but that's not so for the bowl.  Firm windboard is present on the skier's right shoulder.  There are limited options to descend below the bowl and rocks are difficult to avoid even there.  The NE tree protected aspects still hold some soft snow.

The surface hoar menotioned earlier in this area has flattened out in exposed, non-treed slopes either due to wind or to the sun and warmer temps yesterday and today.  The surface hoar is still present in tree-protected slopes.  Thin areas, 5-15cm, right above talus was moslty facteded snow.  Also found some facetes in deeper areas right adjacent to rock outcrops.

No signs of instability today.  No blowing snow.  Lots of early season obstacles.
