More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Toured up Chicken Wing this morning to check on bonding between new and old layers.  Was also curious to see how wind affected this spot was after the last system. No cracking, whumping or recent avalanche activity noted during this tour. 

Arrived at parking lot at 0930, 32 degrees. No wind and partly sunny skies.  The sun was partially obscured by thin, high clouds.  Clouds increased until 1230 and then broke into blue skies. 

Through most of the tour, surface snow was 4-6" of settled powder from last week's system. Several inches of settlement was noted around tree wells.  No wind affect noted in trees and only slight wind affect noted over ridges.  Probing during the tour yielded variable results.  In some places a ski pole probed through to the ground, in others the crust under new snow was very firm.  This pattern held for most of the tour and was often variable across short distances. 

At 9500 ft on a NE aspect we dug a pit and performed CT and ECT tests.  Neither test yielded failures (ECTX and CTX). Total snow height=115cm. New snow from last week=15cm.

Snow layers were as follows:

115cm-100cm (top) 4 finger

100cm-98cm weak, pencil hard melt freeze crust

98cm-80cm uncolidated facets

80cm-ground, 1 finger

We reached the top at noon.  Moderate wind gusts from the west but no snow transport noted. A couple scattered snow flurries only. Farther west and north, the summits of Mt Wood and Gibbs were obscured by darkening clouds. 

Skiing was decent, boot top, heavy powder. Many old and firm tracks from the busy weekend. By 8500 ft, snow was slightly wet and becoming grabby. Temps in the parking lot at 1pm were in the low 40s.
