Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

A break in the storm, in the morning and early afternoon (2/15) south of Mammoth allowed for a quick visual tour to Rock Creek. Gusty winds to the valley floor, evident strong winds at ridge top based on extensive snow banners. 1 to 3 inches new at the trailheads of Convict Lake (7600'), McGee (~1/4 mile from the pack station, ~7700'), and Rock Creek (8900') but plenty of transportable snow in the mid to upper elevations. Snow at the trailheads was melting quickly during the break in the weather.
