Comments: Toured up to Red Cone > Hollywood Bowl to assess the new snow stability and early season Persistent weaknesses. Snow from ~8500 to 9500' developing melt/freeze crusts on all aspects that receive appreciable sun (E-S-W). Maturity depends on exposure, elevation, and solar exposure duration. Shaded slopes - settled out to 4"-8" with relatively good bonding to the underlying snow. Stability tests continue to demonstrate potential deeper weakness, just needs a big enough snowload. Moderate NE wind producing light drifting on SW aspects, no settlement or cracking, possible different results on steeper terrain. Westerly aspects in Red Cone Bowl windscoured @ ridgeline, decreasing with altitude. Hand shears, moderate, NE-N-NW aspects, ~<9500’. Stability tests show mixed hard results. Slope tests, negative. Lower elevations remain exceptionally thin below ~9000'. 4 Stability Tests: CTN (32) Q2 96cm CTN (34) Q2 96cm Q2, CT23 Q2 115cm Weak Q2, CT22 Q2 115cm Weak Q2. No recent avalanches noted.
