Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

-Snow depth varied from ~0.5m down low, to over 1m+ up high (10,200') (and depending on wind load).  No shooting cracks, woomphing, or evidence of recent avalanche activity observed.  Snow at lower elevations was starting to "thicken" in afternoon.

-Dug pit near top of old growth trees in relatively protected area, North facing slope, 32degrees, 110cm total snow depth, ~55cm new snow from past several days.  2 extended column tests resulted in non-propogating failures at the interface between the 2 day old storm snow and yesterdays storm snow.  At this same interface 2 column tests resulted in Q2 failures with medium force (12,13 taps).  Layer of most concern was loose rounding depth hoar at the bottom of the snow pack.  Extended column tests did not result in failure at this base layer, however one column test did result in Q1.5 failure with moderate force (13 taps).  The following depth measurements are in cm.
