More detailed information about the snowpack:

Traveled from Onion Valley summer trailhead to Gilbert Lake.  New snow depths were ~10cm at the trailhead (9200' elevation) and 25-50 cm at 10,600'. Total snow depths were over 1m in the deeper spots above 10,000.  New snow was cold and dry in the morning, remaining so on north facing aspects but was changing to sticky solar affected on sunny aspects.  No signs of avalanche activity were observed.  Substantial snow transport from northwest winds was visible on the high ridges.
