Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Went for a tour out the backyard because we were still waiting for the plow by noon.. Skinned up from Red Fir Rd to ski the low angle trees below Fir Rd.  30-50cm ski penetration.  Wasn't brave enough to test the boot pen.  Probed to measured snow depth along the way and found 110-170cm of new snow in a lee area and 265-325 total height of snow.  Didn't notice any significant density differences in the new snow while probing.  A hand shear in the top 30cm of the new snow showed no result and my hand pulled through with no fractures.  Did not notice any shooting cracks or whumphing.  We got maybe one turn in the 20-25 degree slope with 110 underfoot.  Pointed them straight and shuffled downhill for the most part.
