Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Headed up and down the east face of Mt. Wood this morning from near Grant Lake (7,200' to 12,600').  Beautiful day, blue skies, little wind.  Hit the ridge top at 9:15 after booting very supportable firm snow (thank you to those in previous days for the boot pack!)  Air temp at 12,600' at 9:30 was 0.5°C.  Consistent breeze out of the west just on the ridgetop proper, otherwise very little wind.  Waited for things to soften a bit more, and headed down at 9:45 and east facing terrain was good corn all the way down to 8,900' when it got a bit sticky (still quite supportable, but just sluggish).  Northly facing terrain in the shade was still quite firm and slick down to 8,000' at 10am.  On the ascent a couple small ice chunks fell down the slopes beside me even while the slope was still quite firm (a good reminder to be aware of stuff falling from above!).  No stability concerns this morning.  A narrow gully of NE facing snow still stretches down to ~200' above the rd (careful the thin snowbridges over the creek toward the bottom!).
