Comments: Warm ambient air temperature(6C). Snow exposed to sun, warming & forming a melt/freeze crust. Plenty of wind effected snow (sastrugi, wind pack, wind drifts, wind polished. Pockets of soft facets in sheltered locations. Lower half of the snowpack is less consolidated than further toward the Crest. Stability tests show little propensity for propagation but localized failures possible where wind slabs are laid over facets and not well supported. No avalanche activity noted. Minor cracking of shallow wind slabs on approach. 4 Stability Tests: ECTPV Q3 82cm CT3 Q3 82cm CT2 Q3 82cm CT5 Q3 82cm. The snowpack continues to weaken under the extended period of dry weather and cold clear nights. The extensive faceting will likely become a problem once buried.
