Road tour this afternoon looking for avalanche activity and check new snow accumulations.

Avalanche Activity:

June – Limited visibility but noted two large debris fields under Carson Pk. One possible D4, Devil’s Slide. One D3+ -D4, Pete’s Dream. One possible D3+ from the peak to the Northwest of Carson Pk that ranout onto the alluvial apron. All North to Northeast aspects.

Noted a D2, R1 in the trees directly west of Devil’s Slide, Start Zone ~8400’, ran to ~7300’. North aspect

Wilson Butte – Numerous (greater than 5) on Wilson Butte. Loooked to be a mix of point releases and small slabs. State Zone ~8300’, ran to ~8000’. Aspects varied from SE-E-NE. R1-3/D1-2.

Snow accumulations:

- Mammoth (1300): ~8200' Height of New Snow (N24) – 45cm (~18”), Snow (Wet), NE aspect. Overcast, S2 (~1” per hour). Closed early die to heavy snow.

- June Mountain Ski Area (1400): ~7600’, Height of New Snow (N24) 4cm (~2”), Snow (Wet), Overcast, S1 (~1/2” per hour). Ski Area closed due to heavy snow.

- Obsidian Dome, Crestview (Hwy 395, 1700): Elev ~8000, Height of New Snow (N24) 49cm (~19”), Snow (Wet), Overcast, S1 (~.5” per hour. 

- Tioga Ps (1500): Road -Plowed but very wet & sloppy

- V-Bowl – Elev ~7300, Height of New Snow (N24) 15cm (~6”), Snow (Wet), Overcast, S1 (~1/2” per hour)

- Power Plant – Elev ~7800, Height of New Snow (N24) 18cm (~6”), Snow (Wet), Overcast, S1 (~1/2” per hour)

- Lundy (1530): Elev 7300’, Height of New Snow (N24) 23cm (~9”), Snow (Wet), Overcast. Road - Closed at the lower gate.

- Virginia Lakes Rd: Elev ~8200, Height of New Snow (N24) 45cm (~18”), Snow (Wet), Overcast, S2 (~1” per hour. Road - Closed at the lower parking lot above Conway Summit.
