More detailed information about the snowpack:

Went for a tour today above Mammoth rock to get an idea of how things sit before the storm moves in tonight.  Skies were overcast and temperatures were below freezing all day.  No signs of instability were noted on the tour today. I noted widespread surface hoar growth in more open areas without tree coverage.  I suspect the increasing winds this afternoon will do some damage to these fragile crystals but time will tell.   Digging in around 9200’ on an NE aspect showed a right side up and pretty solid snowpack.

Surface conditions were largely supportable melt freeze crust with about a cm of new snow on top. Skinning was somewhat difficult given the hard conditions but skiing was still enjoyable.
