More detailed information about the snowpack:

We found very nice sun affected snow to ski on the backside of Mammoth Mountain today. The ski quality was highly dependent on the aspect. Around 1230 we got great turns on SSW to SE aspects on the skiers right hand sidewall of Fresno Bowl. Not corn snow yet, but supportable wind pressed snow with about 6 inches of sun affected soft snow on the top. We did not see any rollerballs or other signs of loose wet instability. On the opposing sidewall of the drainager, on a NW aspect, we skied either soft, slightly wind affected snow that was just a few inches deep or firm and supportable wind pressed cold snow. The NE winds picked up more after 1400 and started cooling the snow surface down, thus creating soe zipper crusts that still skied pretty well.
