Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Toured south from Lundy Lake today to 9800' on the feature just east of Deer Creek.  The road was open to the campground at the west end of the lake.  Air temps were relatively warm today with only a light breeze above 9300', but thin cloud cover kept the skinning cooler.  We traveled on N aspects and found 1" of new moist snow, transitional except on the low elevation flats, over a MF crust with fairly dry 4F unconsolidated snow below that.  The crust just under the surface was supportable at all elevations we encountered and seemed to have frozen well last night on N aspects.  We noted widespread wind affect, especially on Gilcrest, and many point releases from rocks on the drive up 395, but no concerns about stability on our run. Starting our descent at noon, the skiing was fun and fast - only slightly grabby at times.  'Roadside Attaction' below 8400' was very fun shallow slush.
