Toured with a group into the lower elevation treesto avoi d the whipping winds and cold temps during this fast moving and under-performing storm that passed through today.
New snow in the Lakes Basin was only 1-2cm where sheltered though surfaces scoured or received deeper deposits depending on where you looked. On northern aspects it was evident that recently winds had filled in slopes that had been tracked out, and surface faceting has improved the ski quality.
HS here is still relatively shallow, only 127cm measured here. The Nov-Dec facets were easy to find, down 85cms and very well developed at 5mm, though only reactive in compression test (CT28, ECTX).
