Toured out to Red Cone Bowl ridge from Tamarack, down east slope and up the back side of the Sherwins and down Mammoth Rock Bowl to the end of Old Mammoth Rd to check on new snow stability and wind slabs.  Virtualy no wind today, above freezing temps at 10,000' mid afternoon, and lightly clouded skies. Evidence of the very strong to extreme winds from yesterday and last night was widespread, with very few areas that remained completely sheltered even deep in the trees.  The West and North faces of Red cone had dramatic wind effects (see attached photo), as did the exposed slopes in Mammoth Rock Bowl.  The deepest deposit I found in "sheltered trees" during the approach up to Red Cone was a 5" dense pencil hard windslab over 4finger, which failed with moderate to hard force in a hand pit test with not the cleanest shear (see attached photo).  Dug a pit ~10,200' on the east slope of Red Cone which had the basal facet layer, and an ECTP29 failure (see attached profile).  Overall yesterday's minimal new dense snowfall and strong winds made staying on the surface of the snow easier, and made it slightly less likely to hit buried obstacles, so an improvement to conditions in that regard. Upper slopes in Mammoth Rock Bowl were very firm with zero ski penetration in some areas, and no cracking or failures with some forceful ski cutting.  My intentions were to make it over toward the hose to check on the avalanche crowns that were seen by Steve from the road in the morning, but unfortunatley ran out of time
