More detailed information about the snowpack:

It was a nice casual Sunday on Chicken Wing with a fresh groomer for the access. Even in the flats leading up to the little mountain, surface conditions hadn’t been too affected by either sun or the warm temperatures yesterday. There had been just a bit of light shedding of snow beneath tree canopy. Probing the snow along the upper skin track I found an average of 90cm depth above 9000ft. A light melt-freeze crust was consistently found between 25-30cm below the surface, but never felt very hard or difficult to probe through. A lot of skier traffic was evident in the area, yet we still found wonderful turns on the eastern aspect. I thought the sun and warm temps of yesterday may have given the East a bit of a crust, but it skied fantastic. No signs of any instability and although breezy in the 30s from the W-SW there was no snow transport when we dropped in at 1100am. A bit of drifting on steeper terrain features, but did not find any wind slab, just soft pillows off the top point. There was a good layer of surface hoar in the lower flats of the approach. It was starting to get pretty socked in looking north from Mt Wood towards Conway summit area already by mid-morning.

It was 29degF at 1030am on the “summit” @ 9600ft
