Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

The snowpack varied greatly across the slope and among the different areas within the Hammil Cirque. within the slope we skied the depth and surface texture were on both sides of the spectrum with some areas holding soft wind deposited snow, while some areas were hard enough to want crampons. the depth was anywhere from >1' to 6'. We dug a pit in a deep protected spot, where wind and terrain had deposited heavily during previous storm cycles. our pit was slightly hasty as we got a later start than planned, depth was 190cm, one CT was performed which gave several results, some of the results would have likely been different a few feet away in any direction. One of the more concerning layers was the soft faceted layer around 54-58 cm on top of the firm layer below. The SP fracture was hard to consider a true "sudden planar" fracture, due to the fact that it took four more hard taps after the first compression at 24 taps, but the column did release off a smooth layer into the pit with the added force.

Ski quality was actually good considering the recent conditions, I wonder if the small system that came through with little to no precip was the cause of some of the softer snow on the surface. snow depth was pretty low outside of north - northeast faces, but the trees were still holding some soft snow on similar aspects.
