Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Took an exploratory tour up Esha Canyon today in the McGee creek drainage. Snow depths ranged from 60cm around 8000' to 125 cm in windloaded areas around 10,000'. The snowpack was variable and coverage inconsistent throughout the canyon. Above 9000' the snowpack was very wind affected with a 3-6" wind skin that was sometimes supportable and sometimes not. Recent wind slabs were well bonded to old snow surfaces and we did not observe any instability. There was recent avalanche activity that probably occurred during last weeks wed/thurs storm. One slab avalanche had occurred on a north aspect with a crown of ~10", width of 30' and ran 150'. Other small slides had run down gully features on both the east and west sides of Esha Canyon.

Skiing down was slow and methodical while battling breakable crust, windboard and shallow depths.
