Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

-Warm day, clear blue skies, some strong south winds at ridgetop, otherwise light winds.

-Snow remained quite supportable even down to 9500' at noon in the flats.  We saw no rollerballs or signs of wet instability on SE aspects in this area before noon.  Above 11000', surface of SE aspects softened by 11am, but shallow melt.  Winds kept uppermost elevations somewhat firm.

Ski crampons or boot crampons quite helpfull ... especially for snowboard boots.

*good spring-time skiing :-)

**As of today, VA Lakes Rd is officially closed for snow removal.  One lane is plowed so far to Dunderberg Meadow Rd.  My guess is that this coming weekdays will see more snow removal efforts with heavy machinery.
