Mammoth Rock Bowl
Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

On 12/29/2019, while standing at the top of Mammoth Rock Bowl choosing an entrance path, the snow gave away under me.  There's a very deep crevasse that's formed between the rock face of the bowl and the backside of the recently formed cornice.  The cornice is not obvious from the top looking down, and the snow bridge that's formed between the rock face and the back of the separating cornice is very weak.  It's likely that the cornice is very weak and cannot support much more weight before separating.  The fissure is at least 25 feet deep.  I also lost a blue DPS ski with a Dynafit binding installed in the crevasse.  If the ski is found please return it to my friends at Friends of the Inyo.
