Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

I toured up to North Lake area above Aspendell today to check on new snow conditions from the recent storm. The mountains were socked in for most of the day above Bishop, but it mostly was cloud and not precipitating. Unfortunately not much new snow up to 9400ft., 1-2" at the most. It takes some mileage now to get to any skiing in this area, and the condtions are meager to say the least. The zone is essentially off the menu for me now for work, atleast we had some options for a month or so. Imagine there was more new snow in the upper elevations of the crest, but there was no visibility today to see if there had been any avalanche activity. It was 23degF at 4pm at 9300ft and a good cell with steady snowfall started as I skiied out the road back to the car. Bishop Bowl access on the moraine is devoid of snow as well as the apron to Jawbone canyon.
