Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Skied Table Mountain today, curious to check on new/old snow interface and conditions before the next series of storms. No cracking, whumping or recent avalanche activity noted during this tour.

Started at Four Jeffries parking at 1000. 24 degrees F with no wind and 25-50% cloud (high, thin) cover.  Snow transport noted high up on Table Mountain. 2-4 cm overnight snowfall, with 120cm total snow depth at parking lot level (8200 ft). Skinning up the first "step", there was 20-80 cm of snow from last week's storm sitting on melt freeze crust (NE aspect). Fist hard surface snow, ski pen=25cm.

Wind became more of an issue above 9000 ft, with surface snow transport. Swirling wind today, generally from the W-NW. Downslope snow transport on N-NW aspects and loading on NE aspects. Wind increasing in strength during the day, with noticable changes to surface snow between our first and second lap. Strong gusts above 9500 ft by mid afternoon and ski tracks from this morning beginning to be covered. Exposed slopes, particulary above 9800 ft becoming somewhat hollow, wind slab in the making.

I dug several hand pits on NE, N and NW aspects.  Most required strong force for failure. Of note was that the layering in these 30cmx30cm pits was quite variable.  Maybe from cross loading during the last storm. Probing in at sheltered area showed total snow depths between 220-240cm. Air temp stayed below freezing all day and the only melting I observed was at parking lot level.

Great skiing on both laps and great coverage for this drainage.
