2/22- beacon basin at Main Lodge is now re-opened! Come practice your beacon search skills! It is located just lookers left of main building up above guss’ pasture.
The Beacon Basin avalanche transceiver training park at Mammoth Mountain is back in operation. It is located between Lower St. Moritz and Lower Jills Run. It is accessible without a lift pass by walking up from the parking lot. Tune up those companion rescue skills. Please remember to sign in at the control box and be mindful of the antenna inside the white/orange pvc pipe (it's fragile!) If you have questions, comments, concerns please check in at the Main Lodge Ski Patrol Office.

1/10: Beacon Basin at Main Lodge of Mammoth Mtn is temporarily down due to technical problems. We hope to have it up and running again soon!
12/5: Hi Everybody!
Beacon Basin is in and ready to be used. There are four bags with beacons buried. If you dig them up, please bury them as deep as possible right now, for the snowpack is still relatively thin at the site (but its easy digging). Please read the information contained within the control box and sign the register. If you have questions or encounter difficulty with operating the system, don't hesitate to stop into the Main Lodge Ski Patrol office and ask for help. Don't forget to turn off the beacons and the control box when leaving the site. Thanks for your motivation to practice and help to keep your partners and our mountain community safe.
