Hammil Bowl- recent avalanche activity

Observations

Tour from Lakes Basin up to Hammil Bowl was fresh, soft now with a depth of 5-15cm. Snow warmed considerable throughout the day and became heavy and slow at lower elevations.

Stomping around on small rolls did not reveal any instability, and hand examination of surface snow found a lower crust in certain places, at various thickness and hardness. Descent from Hammil Bowl was enjoyable and with no signs of instability underfoot, although in certain areas it was possible to bottom out on harder crust beneath the new snow.

Existing avalanches were observable along the crest, North and South of Hammil. Returning to the Lakes Basin, some lower elevation spots were developing a breakable surface crust.
