Observation Details

Observation Date:
January 12, 2022
Submitted:
January 12, 2022
Zone or Region:
Lundy Canyon
Activity:
Skiing/Snowboarding
Location:
SSE facing Lundy Canyon

Observations

- Snow in a SSE facing gully was mushy/manky even above 10,000' @ 1215
-Boot penetration over boot-top for most locations in this terrain feature
-Turns produced minor roller-balling, I think would have been more significant on a steeper slope
-Encountered natural small (D1) wet -loose debris that came out of a steeper S facing chute. It appeared fairly recent. Similar natural wet-loose debris observed at base of steep S facing terrain on No Name/South Peak.
-Turns on shaded snow in gully provided best quality
-Snow became colder/wintry as I descended to low angle slopes near canyon's bottom ( about 8,000') @ 1 PM
