Observations

On an GSG AIARE Level 1 tour up to Mammoth Rock and Panorama Dome, our group experienced knee-mid thigh deep ski penetration which made for difficult travel. Winds were light and variable gusting moderate out of the East at times. Widespread soft, touchy storm slab was observed. There was minimal wind effect observed, with some below Mammoth Rock at 8,900' On steep (40*+) test slopes, we were able to kick off small, dry loose/soft storm slabs.

We dug a Snowpit at 8,495' on a NE aspect had a CT2 SC 30cm down within new storm snow from the last 24 hours within 2mm plate/column change. We also had CT21 Sudden Planar 70 cm down on the four finger to one finger hardness change.
