Key Points

Did a little tour into the expected storm up Punta Bardini today.  Winds were Moderate at the trailhead in the morning with transported snow(see video).  During the day the winds abated and shifted as the snowfall started in earnest.

  • Graupel was observed on the surface covering the facets and wind board.  Size 1mm
  • Rimed Precipitation Particles were present as well.
  • New snow accumulation of up to 2 inches was present in the Punta Bardini area by 3:30 when we left the field.  Wind loading of new snow was not present in this location.
  • Even a little refresh was good for surface conditions, but didn’t totally cover old tracks and surfaces yet.
