More detailed information about the snowpack:

Toured in the Tioga Pass area for three days. In general wind board with softening upper layer on North and East aspects and creamed corn on SE to SW aspects. Often windy from the Southwest at 10-20mph with gusts to 35+. Cornices and heavy wind loading on N and NE aspects.

Exited on 3/17 with the following observations:

@1115 Saddlebag lake (10100ft): boot pen 2cm, 8.5C. Surface grain melt freeze form 1-3mm. Melt-Freeze crust 5cm thick. Lightly cloudy and calm

@1335 ENE (60) slope in upper Lee Vining Canyon (8900ft). 11C. Boot pen 7cm. Surface grain melt-freeze 1mm size.  Hand pit failed with moderate force, sudden non planar at 35cm on ~25degree slope. Upper 5cm was 4f on top of 30cm of P hardness on top of 4F. Wind loading variable on slope. Some natural rollerballs up to cantelope sized.  Kicked off smaller rollerballs while skiing down. Light wind, very light clouds.
